The collocated study identified 271 cities and communities with a population of 7.4
million in the 10 western states that could potentially utilize geothermal energy for district
heating and other applications. A collocated community is defined as being within 8 km of a
geothermal resource with a temperature of at least 50°C. Over 1900 thermal wells were
identified by State Teams as having temperatures greater than or equal to 50°C and
1469 are collocated with communities. From the list, a paradox database was compiled
which contains information concerning the city or community and includes: location, population,
temperature, flow rate, depth, water chemistry, current utilization, weather data, and general
information about the site. Below is a list of the 10 western states where you can find the
database for the collocated communities.
